중국 민간문학(民間文學) 연구의 존재 방식과 최근 동향
본 논문은 중국 내 민간문학 연구의 현대적 위치와 진행 방식에 대해 탐색하고, 최근 10년 간의 중국 민간문학 연구에서 주목받고 있는 핵심 이슈들을 검토하는 것을 목표로 한다. 역사 적으로 중국 민간문학이라는 학문 분야는 국가적인 학문 체계 내에서 소속과 지위가 지속적 으로 변화해왔다. 이러한 제도적 변화들은 민간문학 분야에 발전 기회를 제공하는 동시에, 여 러 차례에 걸쳐 이 분야의 존재 자체에 위기를 가져왔다. 21세기에 들어서도 학문 분류의 문 제가 민간문학의 발전을 제한하는 요인으로 작용하고 있다. 또한, 민간문학 분야가 한정적인 학술지에서 주로 다루어지고 있다는 점, 그리고 내용상 다소 특정한 주제에 한정한다는 점은, 이 분야의 연구와 발전이 다른 학문 분야에 비해 상대적으로 제한적일 수 있음을 시사한다. 2010년대 이후로 중국 내에서 이루어진 민간문학 연구를 살펴보면, 연구의 주요 관심사와 논의를 다음과 같은 네 가지 측면으로 요약해 볼 수 있다. (1) 최근 몇 년 동안 중국의 민간문 학는 ‘문학성으로의 회귀’ 경향과 텍스트 연구가 다시 대두된다. (2) 최근 연구들은 중국의 다 양한 민족들 사이의 민간문학도 이 다양성 속에서 풍부한 ‘중화 민족의 공통성’을 내포하고 있다고 지적하고 있다. (3) 새로운 시대의 민간문학 연구는 인터넷에서 창조된 새로운 민간문 학과 도시민 간에 유전되고 있는 민간문학 등 다양한 형태와 방식을 탐구하고 있다. (4) 최근 중국의 민간문학 연구 분야에서는 기존의 민간문학이 지닌 고유한 담론과 표현에 대한 정밀 한 분석에 집중하고 있다. 2018년에 『중국민간문학대계』 출판사업이 정식으로 시작되었고, 이는 ‘중화 우수 전통 문 화 전승 발전’ 사업 중 하나의 구성부분으로 선정되었다. 이 사업은 민간문학의 가치와 중요 성을 강조하며, 중국의 문화와 사회적 가치를 반영하는 도구로서 민간문학을 활용하는 방안 을 제시한다. 현재로서는 『중국민간문학대계』는 중국의 민간문학 연구자들이 학습하고, 민간 문학을 계승하고 발전시키기 위한 중요한 참고 자료로 확고한 위치를 차지하고 있다.
The Identity and New Trends of Chinese Folk Literature Research
This paper aims to explore the modern status and progress of folk literature research in China and review key issues that have been attracting attention in Chinese folk literature research over the past 10 years. Historically, the academic field of Chinese folk literature has continuously changed its affiliation and status within the national academic system. While these institutional changes provided oportunities for development in the field of folk literature, they also brought crises to the very existence of this field on several occasions. Even in the 21st century, the problem of academic classification continues to be a limiting factor in the development of folk literature. In addition, the fact that the field of folk literature is mainly covered in a limited number of academic journals and that the content is limited to somewhat specific topics suggests that research and development in this field may be relatively limited compared to other academic fields. Looking at folk literature research conducted in China since the 2010s, the main interests and discussions of the research can be summarized into the following four aspects. (1) In recent years, the trend of ‘return to its literary nature’ and text research have emerged again in China’s folk literature. (2) Recent studies point out that folk literature among various ethnic groups in China also contains rich ‘commonality of the Chinese people’ amidst this diversity. (3) Studies explore various forms and methods, such as new folk literature created on the Internet and folk literature passed down among urban residents. (4) Recently, many research has focused on precise analysis of the unique discourse and expressions of existing folk literature. In 2018, the publication project of 『Chinese Folk Literature』 officially began, and it was selected as a component part of the ‘Development of Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Transmission’ project. This project emphasizes the value and importance of folk literature and suggests ways to utilize folk literature as a tool to reflect China’s culture and social values. Currently, 『Chinese Folk Literature』 has a firm position as an important reference material for Chinese folk literature researchers to study, inherit and develop folk culture.
